Direct Line Group publishes an Improving Black Inclusion Report and announces ethnicity pay gap reporting

Direct Line Group has published its Creating a diverse business and improving Black Inclusion Report, highlighting the progress that they have made to increase Black inclusion within the business and wider society. This report is part of Direct Line Group’s initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion, which include the introduction of new recruitment principles and setting targets to increase Black representation in leadership.

The report also announces Direct Line Group’s decision to calculate and publish its ethnicity pay gap from 2022. Whilst there is no legal requirement for companies to publish this information, Direct Line Group has chosen to do this to be transparent and better understand where to focus future diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Vicky Wallis, Chief People Officer at Direct Line Group said:

“We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive business – where our workforce is representative of society, where our people feel free to be themselves and succeed in their careers and where we make a positive impact in our communities.

We do this first and foremost as it’s the right thing to do but it’s also key to our success in a competitive market as it leads to more innovation, greater adaptability and better decision making. This report shows that, although there is still much more to do, we are moving in the right direction.

Our work over the last eighteen months has given us insight and food for thought about the ways that we can continue to support our Black colleagues and make DLG a place where everyone can bring all of themselves to work.

The decision to report our ethnicity pay gap from next year is key to maintaining transparency both internally and externally to evidence that our actions match our words.”
