Being a Force for Good

When we set out our vision in November last year, we talked about building a world where insurance is personal, inclusive and a force for good. At that time, we couldn’t have anticipated the current extraordinary situation and now – more than ever – it’s essential we live up to that ambition and play our part in supporting the communities we serve and give back.

That’s why we’ve launched the DLG Community Fund - £3.5million which we’ll use to support the communities where our largest sites are based, and several national charities to represent our DLG Auto Services repair centres and smaller sites. We’ve been working with local councils and leaders to identify charities that are supporting vulnerable people who are struggling during this difficult time. We’ve also looked for those national charities that work on a very local level so we can build strong ties with local communities.

Mark Evans, who leads our Society sustainability pillar, said: “First and foremost we are a people business that really cares about the communities we live and work in. In challenging times we all need to play our part in helping those people made most vulnerable by the pandemic so we want to ensure the DLG Community Fund is used where it is most needed and can have the biggest impact.

“We’ve therefore chosen to support charities that are dealing with the big issues of the moment - families struggling to afford food or pay their bills, people on the edge of society with no income or resources; children and older people who are feeling isolated; and helping people with their mental health and wellbeing. This means we can deliver real and immediate support to people who desperately need it.”
