Direct Line Group is proud to announce that they have joined an industry-wide pledge that sets out expected minimum standards of inclusive behaviour in the workplace.

There have been a number of high profile cases in the media around harassment and inappropriate behaviour across different sectors both in the past and more recently. The Inclusive Behaviours in Insurance Pledge has been created in response to this and alongside a renewed focus from policymakers on the issue, including the Equalities and Human Rights Commission report released earlier this year.

Led by Zurich and Lloyd’s of London, Paul Geddes, CEO of Direct Line Group, has signed up to this pledge to demonstrate commitment, alongside other CEOs in the insurance sector, to ensuring the insurance industry is a place where everyone should feel included and can thrive without discrimination or prejudice.

Paul Geddes, CEO, Direct Line Group, said: “We already have a number of initiatives we are already driving at Direct Line Group.  The work we are doing to tackle mental health, our commitment to gender parity through Women in Finance, as well as the educational Diversity Network Alliance (DNA) events we have held. These are all examples of the progress we are starting to make on our Diversity and Inclusion agenda.

“But there is always more to do and this pledge is another opportunity for all of us to come together and lead by example.  We cannot be complacent and we must challenge ourselves to ensure we are setting a high standard for inclusive behaviours so we can attract diverse talent into our business and sector.

“This is a really positive step in diversity and inclusion for our industry and giving our support for this initiative, is not only the right thing for us to do as a business and each other, but it is also an initiative that we can build on and add value to in the future.”
