Direct Line Insurance Group plc ("Direct Line Group" or "the Company") today announces that Priscilla Vacassin has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Direct Line Group, effective 13 September 2012.

Priscilla was most recently Group Human Resources Director at Prudential plc (2005-11) and Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit Committee at the Ministry of Defence (2007-11). Previous positions include Abbey National plc, where she was Executive Director, Human Resources (2003-05); BAA plc, where she was Group Human Resources Director (2001-03) and Kingfisher plc, where she held a number of senior HR roles.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Biggs, Chairman, said:
