Direct Line for Business gets businesses back in record time
Last year we took some radical steps to transform the business by introducing Agile ways of working. Being an Agile organisation helps improve the speed that a product can go from conception to market. Over the last 12 months the business has adopted Agile values, principles, tools and most importantly mindset that allows us to deliver customer value faster.
This Agile way of working was put to the test recently when in February the Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced England’s roadmap out of lockdown. Hairdressers, beauty salons, shops, pubs and restaurants were among the businesses that were given a timeline for when they could expect to reopen.
When the roadmap out of lockdown was announced, Direct Line for Business initiated a plan using Agile ways of working to help get businesses insured and back on track, as many SME’s had let their business insurance lapse or had cancelled it during the lockdown.
Recognising that many businesses had been through a tough time over the last few months, the Direct Line for Business squad devised a promotion that would give something back as well as help get SME’s back on track again.
To kick things off a swarm was set up by the squad. A swarm enables as many team members as possible with different skillsets to work together and really focus on one key priority. The Priority? What could Direct Line for Business do to demonstrate customer care while being able to offer value to their customers while getting them back on track?
The squad came up with the idea to offer 12 months of business insurance for the price of ten. The promotion was designed, premiums defined, tested and launched to customers through digital and web campaigns – all within eight working days.
Emma Bostock, Senior Commercial Manager at Direct Line for Business said: “It was brilliant to see the team pivot really quickly and get stuck into coming up with a solution to how we could help businesses get back on track. You could really feel the energy as people pulled together to resolve blockers and drew on the different skills within the squad with support from the wider Tribe and the Financial Promotions team. We wouldn’t have been able to produce the promotion in such record time if we hadn’t been working in an agile way. It meant we could all really focus on what we each needed to do to start winning customers again.”
