Working with Envision to support young people
Direct Line Group are supporting Envision as part of the third phase of the Community Fund. Envision are a charity that enable young people from mainly disadvantaged backgrounds to develop confidence and skills required to thrive in the workplace. Through the Junior Community-Apprentice programme, they empower them to design and deliver their own social action projects whilst providing meaningful employer engagement opportunities to develop skills such as communication, determination and teamwork.
Having partnered with Envision over the past three years, DLG are delighted to be able to continue to support them with the third phase of the community fund. Direct Line Group are donating £5,000 which will go towards the Community-Apprentice programme. The inter-school competition sees young people raise awareness and funds for a local charity of their choice. The Group provides mentors who support the teams with presentation skills and challenges during two 12-week programmes per year. Research shows that these programmes have a long lasting impact on the young people who take part as they develop their social confidence, self-efficacy and key employability skills.

Mark Hodges, Legal Claims Holder commentated: ‘The biggest thing is to try and build their confidence through positive feedback, supporting their development and helping them better understand the workplace. What we especially enjoy is when the students practice their presentation to people in the office and then run fundraising for an afternoon on site. Lots of staff come to talk to them and buy cakes and raffle tickets. It's amazing to see students who at the start of the program were very shy, speaking to them confidently.’
This program is part of the third phase of DLG’s community fund which is looking to tackle five key issues: Social mobility, supporting left behind groups, public health, tackling food poverty and how to Build Back Better. As we continue to feel the impacts of Covid-19, it is vital these groups are supported.
Over the next coming months Direct Line Group will be supporting several organisations through donations from the Community Fund.
