Helping to Build the future of DLG
National Apprenticeship Week is a time to celebrate all the amazing work being done by employers and apprentices across the country.
Apprentices are a fantastic way to build an even more diverse culture and at Direct Line Group we believe it enables us to strengthen our business and build a better future for DLG. And despite the myths, an apprenticeship isn’t just for school leavers. Here we hear from John Dye - a colleague who joined us last year after a 10-year career in the military. Find out more about why he chose an apprenticeship at DLG.
As a Group. we want to attract the best people to come and work for us at all levels - and an apprenticeship programme can unlock a fantastic long-term career option. Last year the Group had 50 new apprentices nationwide and 59 of our existing colleagues started an apprenticeship qualification to upskill in their role.
Despite it being an extremely challenging year last year, we’re so proud to have seen so much resilience from our apprentices who have been able to continue their virtual learning and complete all their exams online. Working with the Institutes and our training providers to support our apprentices has proved invaluable and we’ve made sure to be flexible in our approach especially as many people have had extra challenges to deal with such as childcare or home schooling responsibilities.
There are so many opportunities for our apprentices as we have a wide range of roles available. From working in our Auto Repair Centres to IT project management, Human Resources or various customer facing roles, there is enough variety to ensure we can nurture and empower our apprentice’s to be the best they can possibly be.
