Direct Line Group agrees a £3 million support package with Heal Rewilding charity

At the heart of our strategy is our vision to create a world where insurance is personal, inclusive and a force for good. As part of this commitment, we have agreed a £3million package of financial support for the nature recovery charity Heal Rewilding. Direct Line Group’s financial support, which comes in the form of a commercial loan facility, will assist Heal with purchasing its first rewilding site in the south of England and a future site in a northern England county.

Since its formation in 2020, Heal Rewilding’s mission has been to become UK's first national rewilding landowner. Heal Rewilding plan to let their rewilding sites recover naturally, and reintroduce semi- wild grazers such as pigs, ponies and deer to the land.

Jan Stannard, Co-founder and Chair of Trustees at Heal said:

“This support from Direct Line Group is the most wonderful news. The provision of this lending is hugely significant, not just for Heal but as an example of how the private sector can find new ways to make a material difference to the massive national effort needed to restore nature and address climate change. We hope other companies will follow Direct Line Group’s example.”

Neil Manser, Chief Finance Officer at Direct Line Group, said:

“Over the last sixteen months the pandemic has demonstrated the value of protecting our natural environment, the importance of green spaces for our wellbeing and just how much business, government, charities and individuals can deliver when they work together.”
