Environmental, social and governance
The Board believes that a business model that is sustainable in the long term is essential for discharging its responsibility to promote the success of the Company. In discussing and approving the Group’s five-year strategic and financial plan, the Board carefully considers the potential impact on all stakeholders in the business, and our Environment Social and Governance strategy to ensure that we target long term sustainability for our customers, our society, our planet, our people as well as our shareholders.
Our performance is assessed externally by Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) rating agencies where we score highly.
In September 2019 Direct Line Group was rated as an ESG leader within property and casualty insurance ranking first out of 81 companies
In 2019 Direct Line Insurance Group Plc, received an A rating (on a scale of AAA-CCC) from MSCI in it's ESG Ratings assessment.
The Group is also committed to reporting against the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework and is working to produce its first disclosure by the end of the 2021 reporting period.
